Every product at The Cart at the Crossroads are created with a few special things in mind. All of our recipes are based on source material from traditional folk magic in Cornwall, Devonshire, and West Country, England. When our recipes aren't based on our ancestral magic from across the pond, our products are based on American folk magic, commonly known as Hoodoo, or in some cases, Conjure or Rootwork. We here at the Cart have spent our lives studying both sides of those magical cultures, and working with both hands of Traditional Witchcraft and Hoodoo. Here, you will find handmade products that are geared towards love, healing, and success, right alongside our goods meant for cursing, binding, punishing, and working with the Beloved Dead. Take a peek around, don't be frightened. Love and light can only go so far...
The candle is one of the most recognized and crucial tools for the Witch in all of us. The flames can render our potions, drive and push our magic, and destroy the things in our way. Our candles are all hand poured during auspicious times, and may include things such as ground stone, dried herbs, and essential oils. Bear in mind that the different ingredients in our candles as well as each being hand poured at the time of order, color may vary from candle to candle.
Charms, Hex Bags, and Gris Gris may sound familiar to many, and may also sound like the same thing to some. Here at the Cart, we distinguish the difference of each based on historical names, preparation process, contents, and type of fabric which makes up the sachet.
A good Hoodoo cabinet is never complete without a stock of floor washes and waters. Floor washes may be used exactly as they sound. Add them to mop buckets and hot water to impart the magic onto the home. Waters may be used similarly, but can be added to other potions or used to mark areas where magic needs to work.
Oils are a very versatile tool that the Pellar and Witch may use in their practice. Oils may be rubbed into candles, poured in hex bags, used as an anointing potion, or however else one may see fit. Our oils are made as a marriage of base oils (usually Grapeseed) and herbs both dried and fresh. All of our oils are allowed to steep for at least six weeks before they are available for sale.
Powders and incense have been used by most every religion and magic practice, likely from the day that fire was brought to the earth. Powders are made in larger batches and sold in larger batches because they are meant to be used heavy handedly. Powders are made with flour and mixed with herbs to fit the work. Incense may be burned in ventilated areas and used to drive magic like a candle.
The Cart offers a host of prepared goods, which can be used by expert Witches to crank up their magic, or by a layperson much like the way the local Pellar or Witch would have given items out to their customers who had no magical experience. In addition to those, the Cart also creates and designs various tools which may be used such as mirror boxes, Witches Ladders, and Wind Roarers. These items are usually fairly unique, so get them while you can.
