The Crossroads can mean different things to different people based on their own cultures, upbringing, and religions. For us here at The Cart, the Crossroads are a luminal space, where images of making a deal with the Devil are conjured up alongside the idea that whatever road you decide to take, it is your choice and your choice only. The Crossroads are the most sought after places to work roots, to stir a spell, even to call up Old Scratch himself. Those who visit the Cart get to have a piece of that magic too.
The products available at the Cart are a combination of traditional folk magic and original recipes created by ourselves. The sources of inspiration are mainly between folk magic from the UK, (especially Cornwall, Devonshire, and West Country England) with a sprinkle of Southern United States Hoodoo. We are constantly growing our span of resources and experience to include more options for you all.
The term pellar comes from the Cornwall area in England which was usually synonymous with Wise Woman/Man, Cunning Woman/Man, and ultimately, Witch. The word is diminutive of "compeller", referencing the ability to compel the world to do as you asked. Today, we use the term as another word for Witch in the Traditional Witchcraft sense.
I mean, it doesn’t hurt... but full on witchcraft isn’t for everyone, and if it were, then would there really be any Witches?
We have done the hard work for you. There is still a level of faith in the work and product which aids in its ultimate success, but the bulk of our products are ready to go as soon as you set your hands on them. In most English folklore (and preserved history) a Pellar (an English term for a Witch) would be known in the village or community as the person to go to for charms, potions, and divination. Think of us as that Pellar.
Our products will of course each contain various ingredients, but as a general rule, we use handgrown, wildcrafted, or organically sourced foliage which may include herbs, barks, oils, and flowers. Our oils are most often made with a base of Grapeseed oil or Fractionated Coconut oil, which give a longer shelf life to our oils when compared to Olive oil or jojoba oil. Our charm and hex bags are composed of mostly herbal blends and written charms, but can also include animal bones, soil, crushed stones, oils, and other small pieces. These should be handled with care and of course never be left unattended with a child who may hurt themselves on any small pieces. Our candles are usually poured with palm wax and will contain herbs, oils, crushed stones, and on occasion some metal charms. As we travel the country, we find new and unique pieces that we may use in our packaging, so some products will arrive in perhaps a different jar, or different box from what you see on our websit. Rest assured that the contents are the same though, as is the amount of product that you have ordered. Please read and understand our safety recommendations when handling any of our products, and if you have any questions about use or care, please reach out to us before using the product.
The Cart at the Crossroads is happy to ship anywhere in the United States, as well as internationally! Most orders are shipped through USPS domestically, and through other carriers internationally. Shipping of orders is typically done within 5-7 days from the day you place your order, unless an item is currently not in stock. Certain items are made to order and may take longer. We ship out batches of orders every Wednesday and Saturday. Given the handmade nature of our products which are all made in small batches, certain things may take longer to ship. In most cases, we will alert you if there is any delay on certain products in your order, and if you would like to know availability before you place your order, please send us an email through our contact page, or through Instagram or Facebook.
The Cart at the Crossroads is a mobile center for witchcraft. We travel across the country 10 months out of the year where we sell at various events, fairs, and private engagements. Throughout the year we are available for roughly two months in each location, and are always available online. We travel for several reasons, including the desire to bring knowledge and access of witchcraft to as many people as we can.
The Cart at the Crossroads is a very versatile source, and we encourage you to seek out the best solutions you can. As such, we are available to help you decide what products will get you the results you want. If they aren’t available, we are also happy to work on some custom orders, depending on the work. In some cases, we are even willing to take on work on our clients behalf’s, but this is determined on a case by case basis and will typically cost much more than our regular products and is subject to availability of ingredients, time, and location.
One of the most important parts of the Carts purpose is education. Having attended college specifically to study education, and then working in the public school system for several years, our passion for teaching is second only to our passion for Witchcraft. As such, we offer classes on a regular basis to folks in whatever state we are currently in, as well as online in some cases. Our classes are meant to give folks a strong foundation on which to build their own magical path, so we often recommend taking our introduction classes first before the more specialized workshops, but feel free to attend any class that is offered regardless of prior experience.
Our class offerings can be found on our Classes and Workshop page. We are happy to offer our classes to groups of most sizes, but have found that a group of 3-13 tends to be the most functional and personal. To book a class, click the button below the class description and fill out the request which give us the info needed to reach back out to you and get the class scheduled. We want Witchcraft to be accessible, and take that in mind with our prices. Most classes we offer will cost $20-$40 depending on the content, materials, and size of the class. The more people who attend the class, the less each person is asked to pay. We occasionally will be asked to teach at a local venue and are happy to open those classes up to anyone who wants to attend, and those classes will be advertised on our website, Facebook, and Instagram pages.
